Peace on earth is something that many people cannot relate to, because it seems too huge and complicated when we look at everything that’s going on in society – in our own country and the rest of the world. There are many events and activities, and new projects are constantly being launched to create better solutions for a more peaceful world. Humans are described as intelligent creatures. I’m not so sure… It shouldn’t be so difficult to live what we want to see in the world.
None focus on human mental attitudes and how to change them, and the solution lies here. So simple, yet so complicated. Every single human being has the key and can decide about a more peaceful world.
Peace cannot be decided by politicians, peace must be created within every human
Peace cannot be decided by politicians, peace must be created. Even the most populated country on Earth is made up of individuals, and this is where it gets complex. Humans – you and I – must be the ones who are willing to make changes and create peace.
There’s a place in your heart and I know that it is love.
And this place could be much brighter than tomorrow
And if you really try you’ll find there’s no need to cry
In this place you’ll feel there’s no hurt or sorrow.
These are lines from a song sung by Michael Jackson. The song is called Heal the World, and there is a reason why we love it. It has a message that we can feel and it gives us hope, although we might not know how to be in this place of love.
Unconditional love is our natural state when we are born
Love is fundamental in all humans, and it’s a feeling that we continually seek to find. Since we don’t quite know how to find that feeling within, we find many other substitutes. We seek to find something that expresses that fundamental love – such as love between a man and a woman, love in friendship, in religion, in politics or the good feeling of a successful career, from intoxication or even material things in an attempt to satisfy a need for that feeling.
Unconditional love is our natural state when we are born. There is a way to get back to that state of unconditional love, that Michael Jackson mentions in this song.
It is challenging and complex, but simple.
Humans – the individuals that are you and I – must acknowledge our own behavior and our attitudes, and be willing to take responsibility. As individuals we must take action and change our attitudes that do not create peaceful solutions in our lives, and that in turn influence our groups, communities and society.
Michael Jackson sang another song that describes this very well:
I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change.
If we are to create peaceful solutions and a peaceful world, an international day of peace is not enough. Likewise, it is not enough when only a few humans work to create peace.
We who live in this century are not the first who have longed for and talked about peace, this has been done for centuries. The solution is that our way of thinking, attitudes and philosophies must change, and this can only be done by each individual.
Our mindset, attitudes and philosophy need to change
It is now that we have that opportunity, now that we know more about how the brain functions and the ability of the brain to change, unlearn and re-learn. It is by changing attitudes and thoughts we have learned as children that we can change our adult lives. We can no longer say that we don’t know how the world can become a better place, because we do have that knowledge!
The key to creating peace lies in each and every one of us. The more people who accept this and are willing to make changes within, the faster we will find that our dream of a more peaceful world to live in will come true. For us today, and for future generations.
